April – Gambia: Children’s Lifeline / Lighthouse Medical
During April of this year, Children’s Lifeline teamed up with Lighthouse Medical Missions for a clinical mission to The Gambia. The team assembled a temporary clinic for mission services. Over the course of five days, Dr. Robert Hamilton and his team evaluated and treated 829 children. The children’s ages ranged from 1 month to 17 years. Medical conditions, confronted by the team, included: pneumonia, malaria, bronchitis and bacterial infections. Of the 829 children, over 40% were diagnosed with parasites and worms and treated accordingly. The high incidence derives from poor sanitation and non-potable water.
