October – Sierra Leone: Children’s Lifeline / Lighthouse Medical Missions
In October 2011, Children’s Lifeline partnered again with Lighthouse Medical Missions on a clinical mission to Kabala, Sierra Leon. The city is located in the upper North Eastern corner of the country. This small disadvantaged town continues to suffer from the ravages of the civil war. The volunteer team of 15 was led by Dr. Robert Hamilton. They set up a temporary clinic at The Door Church. Over a period of one week they treated over 1,000 patients. The majority of illnesses were from water borne diseases; malaria, worms, skin infections and infections from poor hygiene.
